Carolina Office Systems, (COS) was founded in 1982 as Copy Service & Supply. Its first office, located in Statesville, NC, was comprised of a small, ambitious team of dedicated individuals striving to meet the demands of a growing business community in an age of rapidly developing office technology. The key to its success was the expertise of the company’s
service technicians and the exceptional quality of its customer service. COS has always known that building strong relationships with customers, providing the best products and maintaining the highest levels of uptime possible are the foundation of exceptional customer satisfaction.
In its early years, COS tested various brands of copiers and decided Konica’s (Konica Minolta Business Systems), feature rich, reliable and affordable solutions, were the best value to its customers. Determining COS wanted to be a one-stop shop, it added the Hon furniture line to its product mix. Adding this product line allowed COS to provide its customers with the finest names in furniture, copiers, fax machines and mailing systems as well as the service and supplies to keep them up and running.
During the next 14 years, as technology advanced and the COS customer base continued to grow, the company expanded throughout North Carolina into Wilkesboro, Hickory, Salisbury and Charlotte. COS found its niche by providing industry leading products and services to mid-sized businesses.
Carolina Office Systems - a name that represents the strength of more than 100 support personnel throughout North and South Carolina.
In its 14th year, COS joined the Global Imaging Systems family, a national corporation of once privately-held office systems dealerships which continue to operate on the local level providing sales, service and supplies to their customers. With the support of its parent company, COS continued to expand in the Carolinas. In 2000 and 2001 Carolina Office Systems acquired Atlantic Business Systems in Charleston, SC, and KOSI Office Systems with offices in Columbia, SC, and Greensboro, NC. In 2003 it expanded its Raleigh market with the acquisition of Raleigh Typewriter Exchange.
COS has increased its product offerings to meet its customers’ growing needs with the addition of such industry leaders like Muratec and Xerox products.
The company’s concept of office technology solutions has broadened as technology has evolved. COS’s digital, networked copiers solutions enable its customers to scan to e-mail, fax, and print directly from their computer, saving time and expenses. COS can also provide supplies for printers and office equipment and service Xerox, Konica Minolta and Muratec systems.
In 2005, Copy, Service and Supply, KOSI and ABS changed their name to Carolina Office Systems. As a unified company with the combined strength of more than 100 support personnel throughout North and South Carolina, COS has the technology and support to give its clients the competitive edge that comes with a technology solution designed to increase productivity, efficiency and ROI.
